A historic hotel that is being renovated while maintaining its character.

THE PREMISE

The Grand Hotel Duchi d’Aosta is one of the landmarks of hospitality in Trieste.

Overlooking Piazza Unità d’Italia, this hotel encompasses a precise identity: elegance, history and a direct relationship with the surrounding urban context. In recent years, the room renovation project has marked an important transition, introducing a more contemporary language without losing its connection to the building’s original character.

The new room design works on a delicate balance: materials, palettes, and details dialogue with the existing structure, creating refined yet welcoming environments that convey quality without excess.

In this context, photography becomes a strategic tool. It is not only about documenting spaces, but also about returning the feeling of stay, the atmosphere, and the perceived level of experience.

The project was thus born with a clear objective: to translate the room renovation into a coherent visual language capable of positioning the hotel on an even higher level in the hospitality landscape.

The project

Branding & Identity

The work started from reading the environments and design choices.

The goal was to build a visual direction capable of enhancing the renovation without distorting the historical identity of the hotel. The photography had to convey a contemporary elegance of balance, control, and attention to detail.

The visual approach is based on clean compositions, uncluttered lines, and light management designed to accompany the space, not force it. Each framing is designed to restore depth, harmony and a clear perception of the environments.

The result is a visual language consistent with the positioning of the hotel: sophisticated, measured, recognizable.

Visual Content

Photography focuses on the rooms and the quality of the space.

Natural light is used to maintain authenticity and atmosphere, while the intervention of artificial light is calibrated to give depth and control without losing naturalness. Textures, materials and details emerge with precision, helping to build a perception of comfort and care.

The shots are designed to guide the eye: wide when the space needs telling, narrower when it is the detail that makes the difference. The visual narrative alternates between overall views and fragments, creating a rhythm that restores the real experience of the living room.

The result is a photograph that communicates quality, balance and welcome, reinforcing the identity of the Hotel Duchi d’Aosta and accompanying its renovation journey with a visual language that matches the context.

Today the Grand Hotel Duchi d’Aosta tells its story in a sharper and more contemporary language, without losing the value of its history.

The photograph returns an image consistent with what the hotel really is: an elegant, recognizable and welcoming place, where renovation enhances the original identity rather than replacing it.

A visual narrative that interprets spaces with measure and sensitivity, transforming rooms, details and atmospheres into a perceived experience of quality, beauty and hospitality.
